The Shaka is a truly unique shape where science meets imagination to produce the ultimate surf machine. At 7’8” x 29” x 4.4” and 113 litres, every inch of this board has been carefully though out to maximize your fun in and out of the waves.
Its flat, diamond nose is meant to provide stability while waiting on the line up. From the nose, the thinly foiled rails allow the board to cut into the water and facilitate more aggressive turns. We have reinforced the deck with 6 mm natural bamboo – which is sturdy but allows a natural flex that makes the ride smooth and helps you draw more energy from the wave out of your turns.
The centre of balance of the board is carefully located on the centre of the board to allow for switch riding while performing spin maneuvers. The rails are also thicker at this point to increase the buoyancy of the board and make it a comfortable ride while jockeying the surf line for position.
Last, but certainly not least, we go into the most exciting part of the board: the tail. As the board begins to thin out at the tail, we have cut a layer deeper in the tail and from that point on, we introduce aggressively dropped down rails. This helps us shave off volume from the tail rails which allows the tail to “dig” into the wave more easily and facilitate faster, more aggressive turning. The straight-fish tail design further removes volume from the tail allowing the wings of the fish tail to drive the energy out of the turns more easily.
Its 5-Fin Futures setup allows for versatile fin configuration so that you can get the most out of any conditions. It is a board that is as performance-oriented as it is fun. A true work of art and science, it will certainly enhance your time out on the waves.
